HOPE for Kids Afterschool Program (Grades: 3 - 6)

Children in Grades 3 through 6 are assigned one day, Monday through Thursday, to work with volunteer tutors for homework and acedemic help for one hour. An additional hour is spent exploring individual and group free time activities including computer games and art.  A healthy snack is included.

The Academic Director creates an individualized learning plan for each student incorporating input from both parents and school personnel.  This plan is developed to encourage a positive attitude toward learning and successful completion of homework.  When time permits, students may additionally work on areas of challenge and interest, including in the case of Gardner students, the meeting of accelerated reading goals.  This program utilizes a "whole child" approach, incorporating social and behavioral goals along with the academic.
